An Avandia Attorney Can Help
If you or a loved one took Avandia and suffered heart attack, stroke or other side effects, you may wish to contact a lawyer to discuss your legal options.
Thousands of patients who suffered heart attack, stroke or other side effects have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers of Avandia. Studies have found that Avandia patients may face an increased risk of cardiovascular side effects compared to users of other diabetes medications.
The first concerns about the health risks posed by Avandia arose in September 2007, when a study found that patients taking the diabetes drug were more likely to suffer a heart attack or death from heart problems than patients taking other medications or a placebo. Other studies have also shown an increased risk of stroke related to Avandia use.
As a result of these findings, the Food and Drug Administration has placed strong restrictions on the number of patients who are eligible to take Avandia. Although the agency has not announced plans for an Avandia recall, only a small number of diabetes patients will now be allowed to take the drug under the FDA’s new guidelines.
